Eynsham Parish Council is delighted that a local dance teacher is setting up her own academy for the first time in our Village Hall! Residents with children who love to dance should read on.
Emily Thresher, an Eynsham resident for the past four years, grew up dancing with her sisters, inspired by her mum who still dances weekly at aged 70. It set the foundation for a lifelong love and a career as a dance teacher, having now taught various style for over 10 years across the Oxford area.
From 13 April, however, Emily will be running her own academy right here in Eynsham: Love Dance. She explains:
“After a decade working for other companies, I finally decided I wanted to create something new: a school inclusive of all abilities and learning styles that also gives back to the community – to my community, in Eynsham, which I love!
My aim is to eventually offer a range of community events from pay-what-you-can dance workshops to classes for children with SENDs who might not otherwise be able to participate in dance.”
The Village Hall has proved to be the ideal venue for the new dance academy. “It is perfect!” says Emily. “It is a lovely large bright space with good flooring. The stage area is really nice and I hope to run some little end of term demonstrations there, if I can. The car park opposite is also very handy.”
She plans to expand her offering in due course to provide dance workshops in the local schools or run dance parties for any enthusiastic youngsters. In the meantime, the classes at the Village Hall will start after the Easter holidays (13 April), suitable for those aged 2-12.
The classes will be:
Wednesdays
Minis (4-6 years) 4.15-5pm
Juniors Level 1 (7-9 years) 5-6pm
Juniors Level 2 (10-12 years) 6-7pm
Thursdays
Babies (2-4 years) 9.30-10am
All students will be taught a mix modern technique and creative movement, while the Juniors (level 1 and 2) will also learn some lyrical and commercial jazz styles.
